We celebrate the life and ministry of Pastor David N. Rutherford, beloved husband, father, mentor, and Legacy Pastor of CrossCity Christian Church in Fresno, California.
For over 30 years, Pastor Dave led with humility, conviction, and a heart for the Gospel. His dynamic preaching, deep pastoral care, and love for people touched countless lives across generations. From church planting to international missions, baptisms to Bible teaching, his legacy is woven into the faith of thousands.

Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.

Lead Pastor at CrossCity Christian Church (formerly Northside) in Fresno, California.
Born in Wichita, Kansas, on June 13, 1964. Graduated from Ozark Christian College with a degree in Biblical Literature in 1986—where he also met his wife, Suanne Siemens
Married for nearly 39 years with two sons, Drew and Zach

Served more than 40 years in ministry across Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma, and California
Moved to Clovis in 1995 to lead Northside Christian Church, which became CrossCity Christian Church in June 2017
Pastor Emeritus in 2023 when his son Zach succeeded him as lead pastor due to health challenges

Known for dynamic, gospel-rich preaching; officiated hundreds of weddings and funerals, baptized
Founded outreach initiatives like CrossCity’s Frappe House coffeehouse and authored “The G.I. Joe of Genesis”

Passed away on June 28, 2025, at age 61, after more than 30 years of ministry in Fresno
Survived by his wife Suanne, sons Drew and Zach, and five grandchildren
Memorial service held July 16, 2025, at CrossCity Christian Church with donations directed to the church’s memorial fund

We honor the life and legacy of Pastor David Rutherford, a faithful shepherd, wise teacher, and devoted servant of Christ.
For 30 years, Pastor David faithfully led CrossCity with conviction, humility, and a heart for people. His love for Jesus was evident in every message he preached and every person he cared for.
Though we grieve his passing, we celebrate the eternal hope he so often spoke about. The hope found in Jesus. Pastor David now rests in the presence of the Lord he served so well.
