CHRISTIAN BREAKING NEWS: ICJ to Decide against Israel in Today’s Hearing when it Responds to South Africa’s Appeal to Suspend IDF Attack in Rafah?

According to Hebrew media reports, Israel expects the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to decide against it when it responds to South Africa’s appeal to suspend the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) attack in Gaza’s southernmost city of Rafah.

Last week, South Africa petitioned the ICJ to halt the entire IDF operation in Gaza, namely in Rafah, claiming that the current assault will make life in the Strip impossible and thereby violate the 1948 Genocide Convention.

South Africa made its 4th application to the court since Israel declared war on Hamas following the terror group’s horrific onslaught on Oct. 7.

Channel 12 cites according to unnamed authorities, while Israel expects the ICJ to impose a halt to the war against Hamas in Gaza at todays’s hearing, Jerusalem does not intend to uphold the ruling.

According to the report, if the court rules in favor of South Africa’s request, the order would be forwarded to the UN Security Council, where Israel expects the US to use its veto power.

In another unsourced story, the Ynet news website predicts that the court will issue additional orders to increase humanitarian supplies to Palestinians in Gaza.

According to Ynet, the ICJ has a
1) low probability of rejecting South Africa’s request for a cessation of hostilities,
2) medium probability of accepting South Africa’s original demand to end the war in Gaza
3) medium-to-high probability of focusing its ceasefire order on Rafah.

The demand for the emergency measure is part of a bigger case brought before the Hague-based court by South Africa, which accuses Israel of genocide.

Israel has denounced the allegations.

A government spokesperson, speaking in Jerusalem prior to the vote, says: “No power on Earth will stop Israel from protecting its citizens and going after Hamas in Gaza.”

South Africa requested additional emergency measures to defend Rafah, where over a million Palestinians are staying.

It also requested that the panel of 15 permanent justices and 1 ad hoc Israeli judge order Israel to give unhindered access to Gaza for UN officials, humanitarian relief organizations, journalists, and investigators.
