CHRISTIAN BREAKING NEWS: Church of England Synod Speaks Out: Fund Palliative Care, Not Assisted Suicide! [#FundPalliativeCare #NoToAssistedSuicide]

“The Church of England just made a bold move—saying assisted suicide is a dangerous path for Britain. Here’s what they’re doing instead…”

Hi everyone,

The Church of England General Synod has taken a firm stand: Protect life. Improve care. Reject assisted suicide.

In a powerful motion led by ‘Bishop’ Sarah Mullally (Bishop of London), the Synod overwhelmingly voted (238–7, with 7 abstentions) to urge the UK government to invest in palliative care rather than pursuing what it calls an “unsafe and unworkable” Assisted Suicide Bill.

The Synod emphasized that improving palliative care resources is both more ethical and more compassionate than creating legislation enabling assisted death.

Church leaders warn the proposed Assisted Suicide Bill creates pressure for premature death, failing to protect the most vulnerable people of the society.

QUESTION: Do you think the UK should legalize assisted suicide—or invest in palliative care? Let’s talk in the Comments section.

Summary of the Synod Statement
The Church of England General Synod has overwhelmingly voted (238–7, with 7 abstentions) to reaffirm that every person is of “immeasurable and irreducible value,” and called on the UK government to fund palliative care services rather than pass the “unworkable and unsafe” Assisted Suicide / Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill

‘Bishop’ Sarah Mullally (Bishop of London), who led the motion, expressed deep concern that the bill would leave vulnerable people at risk, especially given inequitable access to end-of-life care and underfunded hospices

The Synod emphasized that improving palliative care resources is both more ethical and more compassionate than creating legislation enabling assisted dying

Practical urgency: UK palliative care services remain underfunded and uneven—posing real risk to the vulnerable NHS depends on public-funding and charities

Legal concern: Church leaders warn the proposed Assisted Suicide bill creates pressure for premature death, failing to safeguard the weakest members of society
