Syrian rebels threaten to march on Jerusalem in footage carried by Hebrew media, a day after a surprise opposition offensive grabbed control of the capital, ending the Assad family’s 5 decades of harsh rule.
“This is the land of Islam, this is Damascus, the Muslim stronghold. From here to Jerusalem. We’re coming for Jerusalem. Patience, people of Gaza, patience,” promises an Islamist rebel leader, accompanied by a group of militants who answer with chants of “Allahu Akbar!” (“God is greatest” in Arabic).
It is unclear whose rebel faction the fighters represent.
