After the 2024 Paris Olympics, US swimmer Hunter Armstrong returned home to Columbus, Ohio, with 2 outstanding medals.
Armstrong won gold in the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay and silver in the medley relay.
Although this is not Armstrong’s first gold medal, he told Fox News Digital that he did not fulfill some of his goals at his first Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020.
He said winning gold in 2024 caused tears to his eyes, but this time it was different.
Armstrong attributes his victory to his faith, which he describes as his lifeline.
“I don’t see myself in my day-to-day life as an Olympian. But every day I’m a Christian. When I’m competing, I’m a Christian Olympian.”
– Hunter Armstrong
Armstrong admitted that he was not always as faith-filled as he is now, and that, while he was always a believer, he had wandered away from his faith as he got older.
Armstrong expressed his loneliness after a life-changing breakup and other personal problems, which he described as part of his journey.
Armstrong stated that other swimmers share a deep sense of kinship and have formed a community of faith.
Armstrong said he relies on scripture and has learned a valuable lesson in his current season of life.
The 23-year-old athlete said he encourages the next generation to pay attention to faith and how it affects their lives.
