According to court filings, a Blount County youth pastor is facing multiple charges for repeatedly sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl in a church and other locations.

Terry Lewayne Murphree, 39, of Oneonta was booked into the Blount County Jail shortly before midnight Tuesday on the following charges, according to the Blount County Sheriff’s Office:
First-degree rape
Sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old
9 counts of Clergy-sexual intercourse with a child
Electronic solicitation
Human trafficking
Traveling to meet a child to perform a sexual act
3 counts of first-degree sexual abuse
First-degree attempted sodomy

Court filings filed Wednesday allege that Muphree abused his position as a youth pastor by frequently assaulting the girl inside “a church, the defendant’s home, and the child’s home.”

According to a lawsuit filed with the Circuit Court of Blount County, the victim was assaulted “at least 7 times and as many as 15 times” between March 29 and June 22, 2024.

Murphree allegedly contacted the girl via text and Snapchat to request nude images and videos, threatening to “kill himself and his wife” if she did not send them, according to the lawsuit.

The State apparently gathered a considerable amount of evidence against Murphree, including “digital evidence recovered from at least two cellular devices,” and intends to submit “live testimony from multiple witnesses” to the court.
