We are making this Gofundme in an effort to raise enough money for their three daughters that are left to plan their parents funeral and their memorial ceremony. Losing both parents was an unforeseen tragedy, but with help hopefully we can memorialize Mr and Mrs. Baptiste and bring them home to their loved ones.As they go through this traumatic and devastating time, We are very grateful for anything and everything that you are able to donate.

Last week, a Massachusetts pastor and his wife were killed while crossing a street in Lakeland, Florida, only steps away from their 7-year-old daughter.

The family is now soliciting funds to bring them home and provide a funeral.

Yanique Pierre Baptiste, 46, and her husband, Pastor Ronald Jean Baptiste, 54, of Everett, Massachusetts, came to town with their daughter Chayana to see Yanique’s sister, according to their eldest daughter.

Lakeland police said the Baptistes, who were staying at a nearby hotel, attempted to cross South Florida Avenue shortly before 11 PM ET on Wednesday, August 7.

Rexyanna Honors, 22, of Lakeland, was driving a Toyota Yaris through a green signal on South Florida Avenue when she crossed Imperial Boulevard and hit the couple, officials said.

The Baptistes’ young daughter was nearby but unharmed in the crash, according to police.

Despite the arrival of emergency workers from the city and Polk County, the Baptistes were confirmed dead on scene.

The child has been placed in the custody of family members, according to police

Baptiste has served as pastor of the Great Commission Baptist Church in Everett, MA since its inception in 2012.

Originally from Cap-Haitian/Lorillard, Haiti, he earned a Bachelor of Theology degree and was ordained in 1998.

Before going to Massachusetts, he worked as a co-pastor at 2 churches in Haiti.

Yanique Pierre was from Port-au-Prince.

The Baptistes have 3 daughters: Rodnicha Jean Baptiste, Nikicha Jean Baptiste, and Chayana Jean Baptiste.

According to US Funerals Online, moving a loved one’s remains can easily cost thousands of dollars.

There are fees associated with acquiring the bodies and preparing them for shipping, in addition to the costs of containers and transportation (per mile by ground, a set fee for flights).

As of Tuesday morning, the fundraiser had raised more than half of its $70,000 goal.

Honors remained on the scene and showed no “obvious indications of impairment,” according to authorities.

Although no charges have been filed or tickets issued, police stated the investigation is still ongoing and active.

Anyone with information about the crash can contact Traffic Crash Investigator Officer Travis Payne at travis.payne@lakelandgov.net.

According to police, the incident occurred at 3437 South Florida Avenue in Lakeland, as the couple attempted to cross.

Lakeland is located about 25 miles east of Tampa.
