Ghana President-elect John Dramani Mahama has repeated his commitment to establishing a National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, which will be observed annually throughout the country.
On Sunday, Mahama spoke at a thanksgiving service at the Assemblies of God Church in Accra, Ghana emphasizing the necessity of gathering as a nation to offer gratitude and seek divine guidance for the country’s future.
In his speech, Mahama emphasized the importance of setting aside a special day each year to focus on the nation’s progress and challenges.
He emphasized that such a day would provide an opportunity for Ghanaians to unite in prayer, giving thanks for the blessings received and seeking God’s guidance for the country’s continued development.
The President-elect emphasized that the program would not only promote national unity, but also stimulate spiritual contemplation among citizens.
He voiced the idea that a united nation, based on a shared sense of faith, would be better suited to face obstacles and achieve its goals.
Mahama also stated that the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving would reaffirm the country’s reliance on God, thereby reinforcing the spiritual foundation upon which Ghana’s future success might be built.
He expressed his fervent opinion that such an endeavor will benefit the country’s continuous prosperity and the well-being of its citizens.
“I have announced that when I become president, I will institute a National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving every year. Every year as a nation we will take time off to pray and thank God and I am going to be a significant part of that thanksgiving.”
