It is with a heavy heart and deep gratitude that we share that our beloved Pastor Emeritus, Reverend Dr. Reginald L. Porter, Sr., has transitioned from labor to reward. As the 7th Pastor of Metropolitan Baptist Church, Dr. Porter served the congregation and community with grace and profound dedication for over 18 years. Dr. Porter’s love for Metropolitan and his unwavering faith in God touched the lives of many throughout his lifelong membership.
In addition to his pastoral leadership, Dr. Porter made significant contributions to the broader Christian community, serving as the Southern Regional Vice President of the Progressive National Baptist Convention. His ministry was not just about preaching the word, but about uplifting and empowering others to live out their faith through action. His example of dedication, leadership, and love will continue to guide us as we move forward.
The celebration of Dr. Porter’s life and legacy will be held on Saturday, January 4th, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 3rd, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. All services will be held at the Metropolitan Baptist Church, located at 767 Walker Avenue, Memphis, TN 38126.
We ask that you continue to keep Reverend Davena Y. Porter, Deacon Reginald L. Porter Jr., and the entire Porter family lifted in prayer. Let us surround them with love, compassion, and support as they honor the memory of their beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather. We also ask that you continue to keep the Metropolitan Baptist Church in your prayers at this difficult time.
