Prime Minister Netanyahu:
Anonymous sources briefed The New York Times that Israel will be prepared to end the war before all of its objectives are achieved.
I do not know who these anonymous sources are, but I am here to make it unequivocally clear: This will not happen.
The war will end once Israel achieves all of its objectives, including the destruction of Hamas and the release of all of our hostages.
The Government directed the IDF to achieve these war objectives and the IDF has all the means to achieve them. We will not capitulate to the winds of defeatism, neither in The New York Times nor anywhere else. We are inspired by the spirit of victory.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu slams “anonymous sources” in the IDF who told The New York Times that Israel’s military leadership wants a ceasefire in Gaza, even if it means leaving Hamas in power for the time being.
“I don’t know who those unnamed parties are, but I’m here to make it unequivocally clear: It won’t happen. We will end the war only after we have achieved all of its goals, including the elimination of Hamas and the release of all our hostages.”
– Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a video statement
According to the report, which cites 9 current and former military officials, army brass see a cease-fire as the best approach to free the hostages while also replenishing depleting weapons stores and soldier strength ahead of a potential war with Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Netanyahu denied that the army lacks the resources it requires to achieve the political leadership’s objectives.
“The IDF has all the means to achieve [the goals].”
“We will not succumb to defeatism, neither at The New York Times nor anywhere else. We are filled with the spirit of victory.”
