A pastor at a Frisco megachurch of more than 17 years was removed from his job because of a “moral failure,” according to an email confirmed by WFAA.

Tony Cammarota, formerly an associate pastor at Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, “confessed to church leadership of a moral failure” on July 7, according to the email.

Cammarota worked at the church for more than 17 years, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Stonebriar Community Church sees more than 3,700 weekly participants and more than 11,000 online, according to their website.

The email didn’t address the nature of the “moral failure” that led to Cammarota’s removal but asked members not to speculate about it.

The church had a leadership change this spring when their longtime pastor Chuck Swindoll, announced he was stepping down as senior pastor in April. Jonathan Murphy took over a senior pastor May 1.
