A Carroll County deputy who was wounded and brought to the hospital in “very critical” condition on Tuesday morning is reportedly out of surgery and in the intensive care unit.
Deputy Tyler Bristow was shot in the face while attempting to serve a warrant at a residence on Don Rich Drive at 8:30 AM ET.
He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA.
The suspect is dead, but officials did not say how he died.
Bristow has worked for the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office for 6 years, according to authorities.
The sheriff provided an update on his injuries about 4:30 PM ET.
“He’s out of surgery, they’ve done a CT scan and moved him to ICU. Unknown at this time his current condition. Please continue to pray!” the sheriff’s office posted on Facebook.
The suspect has not been identified, and it is unknown why he was handed a warrant.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) stated that the incident was not an officer-involved shooting, but did not explain why.
