CHRISTIAN BREAKING NEWS: Papua New Guinea Passes Constitutional Amendment Officially Recognizing the Nation as a Christian Country [#PapuaNewGuinea #ChristianCountry]

Papua New Guinea’s Parliament has passed a constitutional amendment that officially recognizes the country as a Christian country.

The decision was taken on Tuesday (March 12), with an overwhelming majority of 80 votes in favor and only 4 against.

The amendment adds a declaration to the Constitution’s preamble that reads: “(We) acknowledge and declare God, the Father; Jesus Christ, the Son; and Holy Spirit, as our Creator and Sustainer of the entire universe and the Source of our powers and authorities, delegated to the people and all persons within the geographical jurisdiction of Papua New Guinea.”

In addition, Christianity will be reflected in the Constitution’s Fifth Goal, and the Bible will be recognized as a National Symbol.

Prime Minister James Marape, a staunch supporter of the amendment, expressed his satisfaction with the outcome.

I am happy. This constitutional amendment finally recognizes our country as a Christian country. This reflects, in the highest form, the role Christian churches have played in our development as a country.”

– Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape
