The Church of South India, on 21st July 2025, officially seated the Most Rev. Prof. Dr. K. Reuben Mark, newly elected Moderator, at the Moderator’s Office at the CSI Synod Centre, Chennai. The solemn and joyful ceremony was conducted and graced by the Officers of the CSI Synod, General Secretary, Adv. C. Fernandas Rathina Raja, the Hon. Treasurer, Prof. Dr. B. Vimal Sukumar, and Bishops of various Dioceses, Synod Directors, and delegates from across the Dioceses.
The meeting was prayerfully led by the Secretary of the Bishop’s Council Rt. Rev. Timothy Ravinder, Bishop of the CSI Coimbatore Diocese. The gathering joined in singing the cherished hymn “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”, affirming the Church’s deep trust in God’s providence.
The Hon. Treasurer offered thanksgiving to God, remembered the legacy of the Moderator’s Office, appreciated the Bishops and delegates, and extended gratitude to all who contributed to the smooth conduct of the election process. He also assured the gathering that the leadership will stand firm in faithful administration.
Rt. Rev. Dr. Malayil Sabu K. Cherian, Bishop of the CSI Madhya Kerala Diocese, led the meeting in a prayer of dedication and thanksgiving.
The Moderator expressed his deep gratitude to God Almighty, recalled the dreams and vision of his parents, and reflected on his journey as Bishop and Deputy Moderator, gratefully remembering his consecration as the Bishop of the CSI Karimnagar Diocese and his service in the office of the Deputy Moderator, while sincerely thanking the former Moderators for their trust and faith in him. He now steps into the role of Moderator of the Church of South India with prayerful thanksgiving and the steadfast support of the Synod Officers.
Following this, he was ceremoniously seated in the Moderator’s Office and signed the Historic CSI Legacy Bible, a sacred tradition upheld by all past Moderators of the Church.
The ceremony concluded with the Moderator’s blessings and benediction, marking the beginning of a new season of faith, service, and leadership in the Church of South India.
Reuben Mark Elected Moderator of CSI
Reverend K. Reuben Mark, currently Bishop of Karimnagar and Deputy Moderator (2020–23), has been elected Moderator of the Church of South India by the CSI Synod, succeeding Bishop A. Dharmaraj Rasalam. This marks a key leadership transition.
The election took place during the recent Synod meeting, where bishops from all 24 dioceses convened in Chennai. The Moderator is the chief presiding officer, elected for a three‑year term.
As Moderator, Reuben Mark will not only preside over Synod and official functions but also offer spiritual leadership across all dioceses.
Background on K. Reuben Mark
Born March 29, 1961, Reuben Mark was ordained in 1988, served as a seminary professor (1995–2015), and has been Bishop of Karimnagar since May 4, 2015.
He holds a Ph.D. in Homiletics, with prior teaching at Andhra Christian Theological College and affiliation with the Senate of Serampore College–university.

His election ends a transitional period following the Supreme Court’s directive for fresh Moderator elections and Reuben Mark’s interim “Moderator in-charge” role.
