A former Guilford County, NC pastor pleaded guilty Friday to multiple counts stemming from an encounter with a 14-year-old in March 2022.
Demiro Johnson, 37, was initially arrested in January 2023 and charged with 4 counts of statutory rape/sex offense with a teen under 15.
He eventually pleaded guilty to 1 count of statutory rape and 2 charges of statutory sex offense of a minor under 15.
According to court documents, Johnson has been in prison since January, and he has written numerous letters to the clerk of courts since then requesting a bond petition to reduce his sentence.
The most recent letter, according to the report, was sent on September 3.
Johnson wrote to the judge, requesting that the court consider decreasing his bond and releasing the decreased amount so that he may return to his home in High Point.
According to the letter dated September 3, Johnson intended to register at GTCC and seek a “second chance.”
Johnson received a minimum sentence of nearly 35 years for his crimes.
