CHRISTIAN BREAKING NEWS: Canada Joins France & UK: Will Recognize Palestinian State at UN in September | Global Shift Begins
Canada will recognize the State of Palestine at the UN in September, joining France and the UK in a landmark diplomatic move.
Canada has announced it will officially recognize the State of Palestine at the UN General Assembly this September, following similar decisions by France and the United Kingdom. Prime Minister Mark Carney emphasized this shift reflects growing pressure to revive a two-state solution amid deepening conflict in Gaza and the West Bank.
With over 147 nations already recognizing Palestine, this marks a pivotal moment in global geopolitics. What does this mean for Israel, the US, and peace in the Middle East?
Hi everyone,
Canada will formally recognize the State of Palestine at the upcoming UN General Assembly in September, joining the UK and France in a historic diplomatic move. Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the decision, which is contingent on Palestinian Authority reforms and elections.
This is a significant shift in global politics, challenging Israel’s annexation efforts and increasing pressure on the US to reconsider its position.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has officially declared that Canada will recognize the State of Palestine at the upcoming UN General Assembly in September 2025, aligning with decisions announced by France and the UK.
Canada’s commitment is conditional. Recognition depends on the Palestinian Authority (PA) carrying out key reforms:
Hold general elections in 2026, without Hamas participation.
Implement major governance and institutional reforms.
Agree on demilitarization and unified administration of Gaza and the West Bank under PA rule.
These steps seen as essential prerequisites for meaningful recognition and long-term stability.
Canada has now joined fellow G7 nations France and the UK in announcing formal recognition at the UN General Assembly in September 2025.
Prime Minister Carney emphasized that worsening humanitarian conditions in Gaza, especially starvation risks, and Israeli annexation plans in the West Bank have weakened the prospects for a viable two-state solution.
The decision highlights a growing worldwide divergence from the US position and shows rising support for broader recognition of Palestine.
This is a significant shift in Canadian foreign policy, balancing longstanding support for a negotiated two-state solution with emerging international trends that favor unilateral recognition. Canada has always said that it would recognize Palestine once the conditions for peace were met, rather than waiting until the end of negotiations.
As of March 2025, 147 UN member states recognize Palestine as a sovereign state, accounting for more than 75% of total membership.
France and the UK have already announced similar recognition plans that were contingent on Palestinian leadership reforms and political commitments.
The announcement comes amid rising international pressure and is scheduled to coincide with the UN General Assembly in mid-September 2025, aligning with the broader diplomatic push initiated by France and the UK.
