The 72-year-old distinguished neuroscientist was located and transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Professor Kraus is world-known for her pioneering work on the brain and sound, directing the Brainvolts Lab and authoring the book Of Sound Mind.

Dr. Kraus, aged 72, a professor of neurobiology and otolaryngology at Northwestern University, was reported missing. She had left her home in Evanston, Illinois, to go for a walk at approximately 9 AM, wearing long pants, a windbreaker, and carrying a dark backpack—but notably, without her phone.
The Evanston Police Department, with assistance from Northwestern University Police, deployed drones and canvassed local areas including the lakefront. The community was also asked for help in locating her.
Dr. Kraus was located safe in Evanston and promptly transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. Authorities confirmed that no foul play was suspected in her disappearance.
