Police have arrested 9 people following rising tensions and violence during an anti-government protest outside Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Jerusalem house.
According to Hebrew media reports, 1 of the detainees is Noam Dan, whose cousin’s ex-husband, Ofer Calderon, is held hostage in Gaza.
Online video showed police deploying water cannons at demonstrators, including hitting a medic wearing a vest identifying her as such.
She was reportedly taken to the hospital for treatment after being struck in the eye.
According to reports, a traffic light and a street pillar were knocked down during the intense clashes, while tables at a neighboring pizza shop were overturned.
Police have deemed the protest illegal.
