A pastor from a small Arkansas town has been arrested and charged with possessing child sexual assault materials.
On Monday, the Bradley County prosecuting attorney’s office filed charges against Rocky Goodwin, 86, the lead pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Warren, Arkansas.
Goodwin was charged with sharing, possessing, and viewing sexually explicit conduct involving a child.
According to the affidavit, the investigation began in April 2023, when special agents from the Arkansas State Police first looked into Goodwin.
According to court documents released on Monday, officials executed a search warrant at Goodwin’s house in May 2024 following multiple cyber tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Investigators seized multiple devices, including laptops and hard drives, where they allegedly located a “compressed zip file with sexually graphic in nature label” that said “12-year-old girl.”
On June 20, 2024, investigators discovered more than 70 photographs of child sexual abuse material on his devices.
Goodwin was subsequently arrested on August 15.
According to state police, Goodwin denied any knowledge of the child sexual assault material and denied using the laptop illegally.
A court set Goodwin’s bail at $150,000 and ordered him to surrender his passport.
His arraignment is scheduled for September 28, 2024, in Bradley County.
