Thousands of anti-government protestors have gathered in Jerusalem near Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s house, calling for early elections and the government to reach an agreement to free Israeli hostages in Gaza, amid reports of breakthrough in hostage-ceasefire talks.
Police are out in force, blocking traffic in both ways on Azza Street with barriers and vehicles.
Before rallying near Netanyahu’s home, protesters marched through central Jerusalem, demanding for the government to reach an agreement with Hamas to release the remaining 116 hostages kidnapped on October 7.
A statement from the Hostages and Missing Families Forum, quoted by Hebrew media, urged the people to attend the march in Jerusalem.
“After 272 days, Hamas’s response to the ‘Netanyahu deal’ was received – not another minute must be wasted.”
