The heartbroken mother of a 16-year-old boy who is believed to have drowned off the Rockaways pleaded for prayers on a Facebook livestream shortly after he went missing, hoping against hope that she could trade her life for his.

Noah’s son Elyjha Chandler was swimming with friends off Jacob Riis Park Friday evening when he and a 17-year-old pal disappeared under the waves.

First responders were dispatched to Jacob Riis Park’s Bay 2 at 6:30 PM ET, after the beach had been closed to swimmers for the night.

Divers from the New York Police Department (NYPD)’s Harbor Unit went into the water, rescue boats were deployed, and drones buzzed over the waterline in search of the 2 teenagers, but all efforts failed.

The NYPD Harbor Unit divers suspended their search Saturday evening due to severe weather and a high rip tide, but they planned to resume Sunday morning, according to the cops.

Meanwhile, the NYPD Aviation Unit conducted periodic flyovers to locate the teens using infrared technology equipment.

Lifeguards are on duty at Rockaway Beach from 10 AM to 6 PM ET daily throughout the beach season.

Swimming is not authorized when they are off duty.
