He helped shape voices that reached millions — yet always pointed every listener back to Christ.
Today, we remember Tom Bisset — the man who turned a Maryland farm into a ministry that’s still changing lives.

John Thomas “Tom” Bisset, former President of Peter & John Ministries and longtime General Manager of WRBS-FM, passed away on October 30, 2025, at the age of 86.
His story began in Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania. At age ten, his family moved to a dairy farm in Carroll County, Maryland — land that would one day become River Valley Ranch, a Christian youth camp where countless young people met Christ.
After graduating from Moody Bible Institute and Greenville College, Tom met Mary Ruth Kennedy — the love of his life. They married in 1964, the same year he began a journey in Christian broadcasting that would span six decades.
Under his leadership, WRBS grew into one of America’s most trusted Christian stations — earning the National Religious Broadcasters Station of the Year Award in 1983.
Tom later became President of Peter & John Ministries, expanding outreach through BRIGHT-FM, River Valley Ranch, and national radio programs featuring teachers like John MacArthur and Tony Evans.
He also authored several books — Why Christian Kids Leave the Faith, Good News for Prodigals, and A Risky Obedience — helping believers strengthen their faith and understand God’s call to courageous service.
Friends remember Tom not just as a visionary, but as a gentle mentor — a husband, father, and grandfather who modeled humility and steady faithfulness to the end.
A memorial service will be held at Roland Run Presbyterian Church, Lutherville, Maryland, on November 22 at 11 AM.

Tom’s influence was lasting and large, a visionary leader who not only shaped what we know as BRIGHT-FM and River Valley Ranch today but also helped shape the direction of Christian radio for generations.
Never seeking prominence, he faithfully used his gifts to serve others. Above all, his deepest love was for his Savior, Jesus Christ, to whom he dedicated his life, his work, and his every effort.
