Celebration of the Life and Ministry of Pastor John MacArthur

With hearts full of sorrow and gratitude, we announce the memorial service for our beloved pastor, John MacArthur, which will be held on Saturday, August 23 at 10:30 am, at Grace Community Church.

After 56 years of faithful ministry, the Lord took Pastor John home to be with the Lord on July 14, 2025. Pastor John was 86 years old.

The memorial will be a time to remember and give thanks for a life wholly devoted to the glory of God through the faithful preaching of His Word. Pastor John’s ministry has touched countless lives across the world, and we recognize that many will desire to join us in honoring his legacy. Due to limited seating and the significant international interest, we kindly ask that individuals and churches participate by joining us via livestream with the wider body of Christ to mourn and rejoice together, focused on the gospel and the truth of Scripture. This will allow our church congregation to participate in the memorial of our pastor.

Space limitations at Grace Church also mean that those attending in person should expect to sit in overflow locations across the campus. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and graciousness in this matter. More information will be made available in the days to come.

We ask for your prayers as we prepare to honor our dear pastor and—as he did so faithfully—to give glory to Christ on this occasion.

Pastor John MacArthur (1939–2025) faithfully served as Pastor‑Teacher of Grace Community Church for 56 years until his passing on Monday, July 14, 2025, from pneumonia at the age of 86.

He was deeply loved in his roles as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and as a faithful expositor of Scripture through Grace to You, The Master’s Seminary, and The Master’s Academy.

This memorial is organized by the church’s Congregational Care department and is open to those who wish to honor his life and ministry.

The service will be held on-site at Grace Community Church, providing an opportunity for attendees to remember his profound contributions.
