Today (September 4, 2025), we celebrate the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Nelson Lynn Price, who faithfully served as pastor of Roswell Street Baptist Church in Marietta, Georgia, for 35 years. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Dr. Price touched countless lives through preaching, community service, mentoring, and writing.

For 25 years, his Sunday service “Come Alive” was televised on NBC Channel 11, reaching people with the Gospel. He authored over 20 books, wrote a weekly column for the Marietta Daily Journal for more than 50 years, and served in leadership roles across the Southern Baptist Convention, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

Dr. Nelson Lynn Price, 94, went home to be with the Lord on August 30, 2025. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, affectionately known as “Miss Trudy.” He leaves behind his daughters, Lynn Hill, wife of Roger Hill, and Sharon Turner, wife of Randy Turner. Dr. Price is also survived by four grandchildren, John Turner and his wife Mary Kathryn, Beth McDaniel and her husband Bradley, Ellen Strife and her husband Jeremy, and Katie Meriwether and her husband Jason. In addition, he is remembered with love by seven great-grandchildren: Henry Turner, Mary Price, Bo, Evan, and Will McDaniel, as well as Maya and John Meriwether.

For 35 years, Dr. Price faithfully served as pastor of Roswell Street Baptist Church in Marietta, Georgia, where the Lord grew the congregation into one of the largest in the Southern Baptist Convention. For 25 of those years, the church’s Sunday morning worship service, “Come Alive,” was aired locally on NBC Channel 11. His ministry extended far beyond the pulpit, and under his leadership, the church established important community outreaches including the Women’s Pregnancy Center, the Clay Home for unwed mothers, and the Roswell Street Baptist Christian School for pre-K through 5th grade.

Dr. Price also touched the broader Marietta and Cobb County community through motivational speaking in local high schools on many occasions, through the authorship of more than 20 books, and through a weekly column he faithfully wrote for the Marietta Daily Journal for over 50 years. Known for his passion for prayer and his genuine love for people, he also built lasting relationships with civic and political leaders throughout the region.

In addition to his work as pastor, Dr. Price served in leadership on multiple boards and organizations, including the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, the Georgia Baptist Convention, the Southern Baptist Convention, and Shorter University in Rome, Georgia. His service, influence, and legacy of faith reached far beyond his own church family.

Dr. Price lived out his favorite Bible verse, Colossians 3:23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men His faith, his dedication, and his example of servant leadership will continue to inspire generations to come.

The Celebration of Life Service for Dr. Price will be held at Roswell Street Baptist Church in Marietta, Georgia, on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 2:00 PM. The family will receive visitors at the church from 12:30 to 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to MUST Ministries, PO Box 1717, Marietta, GA 30061, or to the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, 3939 Gentilly Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70126.
