Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee, has named Dr. Ben Mandrell, the current CEO of Lifeway Christian Resources, as its new senior pastor.

Mandrell, a former church planter and respected Southern Baptist leader, will preach “in view of a call” on Sunday, July 13, before the church votes to confirm his appointment.

He succeeds Dr. Steve Gaines, who stepped down in 2024 after nearly two decades of leadership.

Mandrell’s nomination signals a new chapter for one of the most influential Southern Baptist churches in the country.

Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis has officially named Dr. Ben Mandrell, current president and CEO of Lifeway Christian Resources, as its new senior pastor. The church’s search committee gave a unanimous recommendation, and Mandrell will deliver his first sermon “in view of a call” on Sunday, July 13—prior to a congregation-wide vote. Mandrell succeeds Steve Gaines, who transitioned into an itinerant preaching role in September 2024.

Bellevue’s Pastor Search Committee is excited to recommend Dr. Ben Mandrell as the next Senior Pastor of Bellevue Baptist Church.
Join us on Sunday, July 13, at 10:00 a.m. as Ben preaches in view of a call. Immediately following the service, he will be presented to the church for congregational approval.
Overflow seating will be available in the Fellowship Hall.  Children’s programming for 3rd grade and younger will be available beginning at 9:30 a.m.
