Vivek Ganapathy Ramaswamy (born August 9, 1985) is an American entrepreneur and politician.
He established Roivant Sciences, a pharmaceutical firm, in 2014.
Ramaswamy announced his candidacy for the Republican Party nomination for the 2024 US presidential election in February 2023.
He called off his campaign in January 2024, after finishing 4th in the Iowa caucuses.
Ramaswamy was born in Cincinnati to Indian immigrant parents.
He received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Harvard College before going on to Yale Law School.
Ramaswamy formerly worked as an investment partner at a hedge fund before establishing Roivant Sciences.
In addition, he co-founded Strive Asset Management, an investment firm.
Ramaswamy believes the United States is in the midst of a national identity crisis caused by “new secular religions like COVID-ism, climate-ism, and gender ideology”.
He is also critical of environmental, social, and corporate governance activities (ESG).
Ramaswamy’s net worth was projected by Forbes in January 2024 to be more than $960 million, with his fortune derived from biotech and finance ventures.
