CHRISTIAN BREAKING NEWS: Iran ‘Won’t Back Down, Israel Won’t Last Long’: Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Supreme Leader of Iran Hails Hamas Oct. 7 Massacre
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader, delivered a rare Friday sermon defending this week’s missile attack on Israel, which heightened fears of a regional war, while praising the “logical and legal” Hamas-led October 7 invasion and massacre in southern Israel, which sparked the Gaza war and fueled Middle Eastern violence.
Speaking in front of tens of thousands at a mosque in Tehran, Khamenei stated that Iran-backed armed groups in the Middle East “will not back down” despite Israel’s recent killing of a number of terrorist leaders.
In his first public Friday sermon in over 5 years, Khamenei lectured in Arabic about Iran’s “axis of resistance,” which includes Lebanon’s Hezbollah and the Palestinian terror group Hamas.
“The resistance in the region will not back down with these martyrdoms, and will win,” Khamenei told a crowd gathered outside the Imam Khomeini Grand Mosalla mosque, where supporters waved photographs of slain Hezbollah and Hamas leaders.
“Israel will never defeat Hamas and Hezbollah,” he said.
He praised the terror groups’ “fierce defense” against Israeli forces over the last year, referring to Hamas’ horrific October 7 assault on Israel and the ensuing solidarity attacks by Hezbollah, Yemen’s Houthi rebels, and militia groups in Iraq and Syria.
Khamenei asserted that the Tehran-backed terrorists were carrying out “logical and legitimate” attacks on Israel, and that “no one has the right to criticize them.”
Khamenei was pictured holding a rifl and spoke with it at his side.
He stated that the missile bombardment on Tuesday, which sent the majority of Israel’s population into bomb shelters and killed a Palestinian man in the West Bank, was justified by international law, Iranian law, and Islamic beliefs.
He urged nations from “Afghanistan to Yemen, and from Iran to Gaza and Yemen” to be prepared to fight the enemy, and saluted those who perished in the process.
The address was preceded by a ceremony honoring Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli assault on southern Beirut on September 27, along with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander Abbas Nilforoushan.
Khamenei’s sermon came just days before the first anniversary of the October 7 terror attacks, and after Iran fired 200 missiles at Israel this week in retaliation for the July assassinations of Nasrallah, Nilforoushan, and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
“What our armed forces did was the minimum punishment for the crimes of the usurping Zionist regime,” Khamenei said of Iran’s missile fire, the country’s second-ever direct attack against US-backed Israel.
The Iranian leader accused Israel of being a “malicious regime” that has “only kept itself standing by the injection of American support.”
It “will not last long,” he said.
“The Palestinians were right” to conduct the unprecedented October 7 attack on Israel, Khamenei said, calling it “a logical and legal” action.
Iran has praised Hamas but denied any role in the massacre, which was the bloodiest on Jews since the Holocaust.
Approximately 3,000 Hamas-led terrorists crossed the border from Gaza and massacred 1,200 people, the majority of them were civilians slaughtered in their homes and during a music festival, amid rapes and other monstrous acts of brutality
The terrorists also kidnapped 251 persons, 97 of whom are still in captivity.
Following the 1979 Islamic Revolution, Tehran severed ties with Israel and has made the annihilation of Israel and support for the Palestinian cause the focal points of its foreign policy.
Khamenei last led Friday prayers in January 2020, after Iran launched missiles at a US army facility in Iraq in reaction to a strike that killed IRGC Al-Quds Force Commander Qassem Soleimani.
The Iran-aligned “axis of resistance” to Israel and its partner, the United States, includes Hamas, Hezbollah, and other Middle Eastern armed groups, as well as Syria’s Assad regime.
In April, Tehran launched missiles and drones at Israel in retribution for a deadly Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, which killed a Revolutionary Guards commander.
During both strikes, Israel or its partners intercepted nearly all missiles.
