Israel’s security cabinet has approved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s proposal to conquer Gaza City, despite warnings from the IDF that the operation could endanger the remaining hostages and cause a humanitarian disaster.
Analysts see the move as a smaller step toward Netanyahu’s larger goal of occupying the entire Gaza Strip. However, experts suggest that this operation may set the stage for future expansions — the IDF is expected to continue into other unconquered areas of Gaza after securing the city.
Gaza City, home to approximately 800,000 displaced Palestinians, will undergo a mass evacuation to the south, followed by a siege and a ground offensive aimed at eliminating Hamas operatives.
