GOFUNDME – HELP SUPPORT ME AFTER NEW ORLEANS TRAGEDY:

Alexis Scott-Windham is organizing this fundraiser. My name is Alexis Scott Windham. I’m from Mobile, AL, and I’m 23 years old. I am a surviving victim of the horrific event that happened in New Orleans. I am truly blessed to be amongst the living, and my heart truly goes out to those who lost their lives.

I was shot in my foot during this tragedy and also struck by the truck that the suspect was driving. I currently have multiple fractures in my foot, and the bullet is still in my foot. Honestly, I am still traumatized by this event, and I need help both financially and emotionally, and all prayers!

Because of this incident, I am unable to work and provide for myself and my one-year-old daughter. I am asking for help simply because I need it, not only for myself but for my child. I am also willing to go to therapy (both physical and mental) to assist in my road to recovery.

God bless each and every one of you in advance! I am so thankful and blessed to be here today. I know I say it 100 times a day, but I’m just so gratefulhttps://www.nola.com/news/crime_police/alabama-mom-is-hit-by-truck-then-shot-in-new-orleans-attack/article_f985df4e-c965-11ef-8ec3-a3bc378dd1ae.html

A woman in Alabama is fortunate to be alive after surviving the devastating New Orleans terrorist attack that killed several people on New Year’s Day.

Alexis Scott-Windham was in the thick of the crowd on Bourbon Street when the terror began on New Year’s Day.

She claimed it was merely meant to be a pleasant night with friends.

However, it quickly became a living nightmare.

She believed the truck was driven by a drunk driver, but she quickly learned this was incorrect.

She was walking on the sidewalk when she was struck by a truck and a flying bullet during the onslaught of gunfire.

Officials said an Islamic State-inspired suspect deliberately drove a pickup truck through crowds before opening fire, killing at least 14 people.

Shamsud-Din Bahar Jabbar, 42, the driver, was fatally shot.

Scott-Windham claimed she was shot in the right foot and hit by a truck that plowed through the crowd.

Her foot is currently fractured in multiple places.

She explained that while lying on the ground, she could not stop thinking about her one-year-old daughter.

“As I was getting up, I was seeing the dead bodies on the ground. Every day, I just thank God that I’m here.”

She claimed a Good Samaritan drove her to the hospital because ambulances were overloaded with other casualties.

When she arrived at the hospital, she described the scene as an image she would never forget.
