Among the victims are 8 women and 2 men.

10 people died from poisoning after a fire broke out in a residential home in the center of the city of Treinta y Tres, Uruguay located on Manuel Meléndez Street between Simón del Pino and Manuel Oribe.

The fire occurred around 6 AM UST in the morning in the Senior Citizens’ Residential Home. Upon arriving at the scene, the Fire Department found that the place had a wall with bars and the door was closed, which made entry difficult.

When they managed to enter, they found the fire in the living room and the smoke that had spread to the rest of the rooms.

The residential home has 6 rooms, of which 3 are bedrooms.

The Fire Department managed to rescue and evacuate the 10 residents.

They were immediately treated, but 7 died there from smoke poisoning.

Another 3 were taken in serious condition to the local hospital.

However, they died later.

The victims were 8 women and 2 men.

The residential home worker managed to get out through a side garage before the Fire Department arrived.

The 20-year-old woman is hospitalized for carbon monoxide inhalation and a nervous breakdown.

This Sunday at noon a team from the Fire Department’s accident investigation department arrived from Montevideo to carry out an expert assessment of the fire.
