Tragic update regarding the Shroyer family serving in Angola Africa.
Friday, October 25, we were notified by Mark Bosscher, the Chief Personnel Officer & General Counsel of SIM-USA, that our dear brother and friend Beau Shroyer was killed in an act of violence while serving Jesus in Angola, Africa.
At this point, there are many details about what’s happened that are still unknown, however we have been in contact with his wife Jackie, and are doing what we can to come alongside them in this shocking and awful time. Be assured that even in their shock and grief, they are strong in the Lord and His word and have wonderful support around them.
Lakes Area Vineyard Family,
I have some unbelievably heartbreaking news to share with you all today.
Because of the nature of what’s happened and the speed at which news like this travels, we
alongside with SIM and the family involved wish to communicate to you as clearly and as
compassionately as we can.
Yesterday, Friday, October 25, we were notified by Mark Bosscher, the Chief Personnel Officer
& General Counsel of SIM-USA, that our dear brother and friend Beau Shroyer was killed in an
act of violence while serving Jesus in Angola, Africa.
At this point, there are many details about what’s happened that are still unknown, however we
have been in contact with his wife Jackie, and are doing what we can to come alongside them
in this shocking and awful time. Be assured that even in their shock and grief, they are strong
in the Lord and His word and have wonderful support around them.
Moments like these create so many unanswerable questions for us and it adds to the pain to
know that we may never understand why our Father has allowed something like this to happen.
And yet, amidst the shock and grief, we must not forget the truths found in the scriptures that
point to His wise, merciful, gracious, faithful, trustworthy, and always loving character as well
as the truth that Beau was a man who, because of his love for the Lord, gave His life to
pointing the lost, the hurting, the desperate and the broken to the God who rescued, saved
and transformed his life.
Today, we must carry the tension of very real pain and confusion alongside the truth that
because of Jesus and what He made possible for humanity through His life, death and
resurrection, that this very moment, Beau, because of his sincere faith and trust in Jesus, is
with His king.
We are heartbroken for Jackie, their 5 children, and their families, but we also rejoice in the
truth that Beau, now absent from the body is present with the Lord.
The coming days and weeks will undoubtedly be overwhelming and exhausting for Jackie and
the children. Please be mindful and compassionate in how you communicate with them. As
more details became available regarding what’s next for the family, what arrangements are
being made to celebrate and honor Beau’s life, and practical ways you can love and serve
them, we will be certain to share them with you.
In the mean time, please be in prayer that the God of all comfort would make His love, His
nearness and His presence so obvious to Jackie, Bella, Avery, Oakley, Iva and Eden, and that
they would cling to Him.
With love and sadness,

Subject: A Message of Hope and Support for the Shroyer Family
Dear brothers and sisters,
Beau and Jackie Shroyer, together with their five children, were some of the first
missionaries to begin service with SIM USA after the COVID lockdowns eased. They
have brought a faithful, energetic, growing, loving aroma of Christ into our family.
On Friday, October 25, I received a phone call informing me that Beau Shroyer was
killed while serving Jesus in Angola and is now with his Savior. It is my belief that from
his vantage point, he can see how his family will be cared for, and it is not hard for him
to trust our good Father. From our perspective and the perspective of Jackie and the
kids, we now must trust Jesus in a season that we never imagined. We must trust Him
without requiring Him to give us an understanding of why He allowed this. It is difficult
and stretches our faith.
I have not yet spoken to Jackie, and many details are still unknown. It is important for us
to remember that oftentimes it can be exhausting to answer many questions when we
are in the middle of a crisis. I know that you love Jackie and the kids, but please do not
overwhelm them with communication.
I write this note en route to Angola, praying that God will give me the opportunity to
provide any measure of comfort or help. I will seek to provide you with more information
and ways to participate when I know what you can do.
In terms of prayer needs, I have attached a brief note from the Shroyers’ March 2023
newsletter along with a family picture. I think the prayer request of Beau and Jackie in
that newsletter will be a suitable prayer for their family for many years to come. Please
consider printing it out as a reminder to pray.
Thank you for your understanding and prayerful support during this difficult time.
Trusting in Jesus together,
Randy Fairman
SIM USA president
