Here’s an update on televangelist Jimmy Swaggart, who is in critical condition following a cardiac arrest.

This is an excerpt of what Donnie Swaggart, the only son of Jimmy and Frances Swaggart, said:

He wishes he could tell us right now that there is recovery and things are going better, but there’s been no change.

The bottom line, as we sit here right now, is that without a miracle, that’s the only thing that we can hope for.

He went on to say:

If you look in your Bible, Psalms 18, it will say a Psalm of David, but it’s really not.

It’s really a messianic Psalm dealing with the Lord.

And in the 30th verse, David says, as the Holy Spirit directed his heart, his mind and his hand to write,
he said, As for God, His way is perfect.

The Word of the Lord is tried.

He is a Buckler to all those who trust in Him.

And this is the verse where we get the little saying, the ways of God are right.

Every one of us is granted a period of time on this earth in the Providence of God’s will, and it is up to us to make the most of the time that the Lord gives us.

On this earth. And I think Dad went far beyond making the most of his time.

I’m asking you to keep praying.

I would ask for you to please lift my mother up in prayer.

My mother has always been the rock and the strength of our family and of this ministry.

No matter what was going on and no matter how difficult a situation that whether it would be one of the family or the ministry in general would find itself in a hard time, a hard place.

It was mother who always stood strong and would admonish us.

The whole family needs your prayers.

We are putting everything into His hands.

He is our Hope and our Strength.

He is our Buckler, our Shield, our Fortress, our Rock of refuge.

And let me just say it again.

You will never hear any of us question the Lord as to why.

We know in whom we have believed, and we are persuaded that He is able and His ways are right.

We’re appreciative of your outpouring of love and keep praying and keep believing and all things work together to the good of them that love the Lord.

At this time, there has been no change in Brother Swaggart’s condition. We continue to trust the Lord and give Him time to work, knowing that His ways are perfect.
We do ask that you keep Sister Swaggart in your prayers—these past two days have been especially difficult for her. Please also pray for the entire Swaggart family during this time. The family is grateful for your prayers, your support, and the love you’ve shown.
