He described the last 3 days as an emotional “roller coaster.”
Pastor Jeremy had just returned from a family vacation on July 27, when he sought urgent care for troubling symptoms.
Despite initial fears of a mosquito-borne disease, tests revealed an aggressive blood cancer.
He is currently undergoing aggressive treatment at Emory Hospital and anticipates spending limited time with his daughters due to upcoming treatment.
He is deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and support of his friends and church community.
Pastor Jeremy concludes by emphasizing the power of faith, hope, and love, and asks for continued prayers for himself, Valarie, and their daughters Maggie and Macy.

UPDATE (July 30) – I am simply overwhelmed by your words of kindness and encouragement; I can speak for Valarie and my girls in saying that your prayers and offers of support have meant the world to us. I hope I can say more about the impact of your words in the coming days.
SO…here’s where things get interesting: Doctors are now leaning away from a leukemia diagnosis and moving towards lymphoma. What began as a reasonably confident belief that my cancer was acute leukemia has shifted after some microscopic exams. I am supposed to be transferred to the lymphoma unit tomorrow.
I hesitate to say more as things have changed so much in three days, so I will hold off on any medical updates until I receive confident info from my Drs.
To say the past 3 days have been a “roller coaster” would be an understatement. I am about to see my girls and want to cherish that brief visit with them as (likely) treatments will prevent me from being with them on a regular basis.
(I honestly did not imagine that missing the chaos and stress of the week leading up to the first day of school would be so emotionally difficult. But holy cow – it’s been hard)
Thankful for the gifts of faith, hope and love today.

Friends:
When I returned from our family vacation on July 27, I headed straight to a local urgent care to determine the cause of some rather unpleasant symptoms that emerged during the second half of my trip.
While initial screenings suggested a mosquito-borne illness, further testing and analysis concluded that I had developed an acute and aggressive form of blood cancer. While doctors are still waiting for certain test results, the diagnosis is likely going to be Acute Myeloid Leukemia (I’ll correct this post if that changes).
I have been given an aggressive treatment plan at Emory Hospital and will be receiving care there in the coming weeks. We are grateful for extended family who have already traveled to be with us.
To say I covet your prayers would be an understatement. I also ask for your support on behalf of Valarie, Maggie & Macy as they walk this journey with me.
Whether we regularly keep up in life or have not spoken in years, I appreciate your friendship and support. t
