CHRISTIAN BREAKING NEWS: 2024 India Elections: [UPDATE] Narendra Modi to Take Oath and Begin His Third Successive Term as Prime Minister Today (June 9, 2024) at 7:15 PM IST

The Cabinet will include TDP’s Ram Mohan Naidu, Pemmasani Chandrashekhar, and JD (S)’s H.D. Kumaraswamy BJP leaders Nitin Gadkari, Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, and Pralhad Joshi

Some newly elected MPs will meet Modi at 11:30 AM IST.

Narendra Modi will take oath as Prime Minister today, beginning his 3rd term.

On June 7, President Droupadi Murmu formally invited Mr. Modi to form the next government, following his election as leader of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA)’s Parliamentary Party.

Earlier on June 7, NDA party leaders such as Chandrababu Naidu of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Nitish Kumar of the Janata Dal (U), and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde of the Shiv Sena met with President Murmu and presented letters of support to the new government.

The new government will also be sworn in today at 7.15 IST, the Rashtrapati Bhavan said.

The NDA got 286 seats in this election, while the BJP won 240 seats, falling shy of the 272 majority level.

This is far lower than the 303 and 282 seats it won in 2019 and 2014, respectively, to achieve a majority on its own.

Meanwhile, leaders from 7 countries in South Asia and the Indian Ocean area are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony.
