Tyler, Susan, & Miles Campbell
May 27, 2024Tyler Neil Campbell, age 28, Susan Natalie Campbell, age 29 died on May 27, 2024, and their son, Miles William Campbell, age 8 died on May 28, 2024. They were all residents of Garner, North Carolina.
Tyler was born on March 10, 1996, in Rutherford County, North Carolina. Growing up in Rutherford County, Tyler was an Eagle Scout and a 2014 graduate of East Rutherford High School where he was active in school functions and a member of the Cross Country Team. He then attended N.C. State University where he graduated in the Class of 2018 with a degree in Sports Management. Tyler worked for Levitate, a software company, as a Technology Liaison. He ran in many 5-K races, including the London Marathon and recently signed up to run the Chicago Marathon.
Susie, as she was known to family and friends, was born March 19, 1995, in China and was raised in Rutherford County. She too was a 2012 graduate of East Rutherford High School. Susie attended North Greenville College and Isothermal Community College until she transferred to N.C. State University where she graduated in 2017 with a degree in Nutrition. She then continued her education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she graduated in 2021 with a degree in Nursing. She was working at Wake Med-Cary as a Registered Nurse and Clinical Evaluator.
Miles was born on October 5, 2015 in Raleigh. He recently completed the second grade at Avesboro Elementary School and had received his orange belt in Karate from Snap Kick. Miles was a member of Cub Scout Pack #391 in Garner, where his dad was assistant den leader and he participated in the pine wood derby. He loved playing baseball as #4 for the Trash Pandas of the Garner Sports League, where he had received two sportsmanship awards. Miles and his mother would make care packages and distribute them to the homeless community as a project they worked on together. His most selfless act was that of being an organ donor to help others live.
Tyler is survived by his mother, Katherine Campbell of Ellenboro, his sister, Traci Grier and husband Nic of Ellenboro, his grandparents, Bill and Bonnie Campbell of Danville, Virginia, his great-grandmother, Sue Collie of Danville, Virginia and his niece, Mercy, and nephews, Wyatt, Taylor, Carter, and Caleb Grier as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins that loved him.
Susie is survived by her parents, Keith and Debbie Dodson of Whittier, North Carolina, her brothers, William Dodson and wife Melissa of Winston-Salem, John Perry and wife Brittany of Whittier, North Carolina, her sisters, Jean Harris and husband Tim of Forest City, Chris Ward and husband Chad of Burlington, North Carolina, a special sister, Angle Perry of Whittier, North Carolina as well as a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins that loved her. She was preceded in death by her first adoptive mother, Michelle Dodson who died when Susie was eight years old, and grandparents, Ben and Martha Dodson, and Barbara Powell.
Tyler, Susie, and Miles were active in Garner where they faithfully attended The Summit Church at Garner. They had many friends, church members, and neighbors that they considered family including Miles’ Godparents, Tim, and Kayla Sasser of Garner.
Miles was the center of the world for both Tyler and Susie, and they were loving and caring parents. They loved travel and were always ready for the next adventure with the family dog Boomer.
Funeral services will be held at twelve noon on Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Corinth Baptist Church, Ellenboro, NC. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from four until eight in the fellowship hall of Corinth Baptist Church. The service will be live streamed on Thursday. A link will be provided on this website on Monday.
A Memorial Service will also be held in Garner at 3 o’clock on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at The Summit Church Building at 1120 Vandora Springs Road, Garner, North Carolina.
