Born Beatrice Wairimu Mbugua, but known across Kenya as Betty Bayo, she was a mother of two, a gospel artist, a mentor, and a woman whose humility drew people to God.

She didn’t seek fame — she sought ministry.

In early November 2025, Betty suddenly became critically ill.
Doctors diagnosed her with acute leukemia, a fast-moving blood cancer.
Her condition worsened within days.
She experienced severe bleeding, a known complication of leukemia.
On November 10, 2025, at 1:03 PM, surrounded by family at Kenyatta National Hospital, she went to be with the Lord.
Her family later said,
“The will of God has prevailed.”
Her ex-partner Kanyari confirmed her passing, expressing heartbreak and honoring her memory as the mother of their children.
Her body was then moved to the Kenyatta University Referral Mortuary.

3️⃣ Her Burial — A Nation Gathered to Say Goodbye
Today, Thursday, November 20, 2025, Kenya came together to honor her life at Ndumberi Stadium, Kiambu County
Thousands filled the grounds — fans, friends, pastors, gospel artists, and believers from across the country — all united in sorrow and gratitude for her ministry.
A KSh 5 million burial budget ensured she received a dignified and honorable farewell worthy of the impact she made.
After the public ceremony, Betty Bayo was laid to rest in a private family burial at her own property in Mugumo Estate along Kiambu Road — land she had purchased for her children’s future.
Kenya did not just bury a gospel artist.
Kenya laid to rest a worshiper, a mother, and a vessel God used to touch countless lives.
