Hi everyone,
Ministers are meeting today at the United Nations headquarters in New York for the long-awaited France-Saudi Arabia-led conference on a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine. However, Israel and the United States are boycotting the talks, describing them as biased and premature.
The high-level meeting attempts to restart peace efforts, with a focus on Palestinian statehood, Israeli security, Hamas disarmament, and Palestinian Authority reforms.

A high-level UN conference, co-hosted by France and Saudi Arabia, resumes the long-delayed effort to advance a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine.
Originally scheduled for June 17–20, it was postponed due to the Israel–Iran conflict, including Israeli strikes on Iran’s nuclear and military facilities.
The conference has been rescheduled to July 28–29, 2025, and will take place at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
Although dozens of foreign ministers will attend, Israel and the United States are boycotting the event. The US criticized it as a “gift to Hamas”; Israel demanded prior focus on condemning Hamas and returning all of the remaining hostages.
The meeting aims to build an action plan toward:
Palestinian statehood
Security guarantees for Israel
Post-war planning including Hamas disarmament and reforms of the Palestinian Authority
France has signaled its intention to formally recognize Palestinian statehood in September 2025 at the UN General Assembly, potentially galvanizing broader international support.
Marking a rare moment in the wartime environment, this conference renews global efforts toward a two-state framework, more than two decades after the Oslo Accords and other peacemaking attempts.
With Israel and the US absent, its effectiveness will hinge on whether participants can reach consensus on recognition, ceasefire, and governance reforms while countering accusations that it is rewarding Hamas.
