Rev. Walker, who was shot while preaching at a busy North Little Rock crossroads on Sunday, has been released from the hospital and is on his way to full recovery.

This week, the North Little Rock neighborhood was rattled when they learned the tragic circumstances of a local street preacher who was a victim of gun violence.

Reverend Larry Oneal’ Walker is a well-known figure in the community, preaching the gospel on the corner every Sunday.

However, things took a turn on Sunday morning at a busy North Little Rock crossroads.

Latarryes Bush, 20, of North Little Rock, shot Rev. Walker at the junction of JFK Blvd and McCain Blvd, according to police.

For nearly 15 years, Rev. Walker has stood in that spot, preaching the gospel to passing cars.

Rev. Walker is already in recovery after being shot, but the community was taken aback by this act of violence.

Many consider him a friend, but Rev. Walker described how this incident fits into his life mission of bringing people closer to God.

Rev. Walker also described how the incident began when Bush attempted to steal the microphone he uses to preach, but Walker refused to give it up, and Bush then shot him.

“It doesn’t make no difference how bad you’ve been. This young boy shot me to death and I’m going out there and I’m going to embrace him and give him $5 if he let me do it and a nice hot meal.”

He also stated that he is a man who walks by faith rather than sight, and that this will not prevent him from attending his chosen location, which he refers to as the red light green light church.

He will be there preaching the gospel.

Bush remains in the Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility, where he is being held without bond.
