CHESAPEAKE POLICE DEPARTMENT INVESTIGATION LEADS TO SPOTSYLVANIA CHILD SEX CRIME ARREST
The Chesapeake Police Department received information this past January that Daniel Brian Fleming, 31 years of age from Chesapeake was involved with criminal activity involving children. As the result of the criminal investigation, he was charged with the below listed criminal offenses:
1. 18.2-374.1:1 Solicitation of Child Pornography
2. 18.2-374.3 Use of Communications Systems to Facilitate Certain Offenses Involving Children
He was formerly employed at a private school in Chesapeake and Spotsylvania as a math teacher and was involved in youth ministries at a local church. During Chesapeake Police Department’s investigation, they notified Spotsylvania County Child Victim Unit Detectives who opened a criminal case with allegations of inappropriate contact with a juvenile in 2019. As a result of that investigation, Fleming was charged on May 15, 2024 with 18.2-370 Taking Indecent Liberties with a Child. Fleming was already being held in Chesapeake and was served on his Spotsylvania warrant. His next court date is July 12th in Spotsylvania Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
Detectives are continuing their investigation to see if there are any more individuals that may have had inappropriate contact with Mr. Fleming. Anyone with further information can contact our tip line below.

A former math teacher and church youth counselor has been charged with sex crimes against children, according to Virginia officials.

Daniel Brian Fleming, 31, was arrested for various child-related felonies in Spotsylvania County, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Fleming first came to the attention of the Chesapeake Police Department in Virginia in January of this year, when investigators found that he was involved in a number of offenses involving children.

Fleming was a former employee at a Chesapeake private school and was heavily involved in a Spotsylvania County church’s youth ministry, according to police.

As a result, Chesapeake Police detectives notified the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Department’s Child Victim Unit of their investigation into Fleming and the claims of inappropriate contact with a minor against him, which date back to 2019.

Following their investigation, Chesapeake Police charged Fleming with soliciting child pornography and utilizing communication systems to facilitate crimes against children.

On May 15, the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office charged Fleming with indecent behavior with a minor.

Fleming was served with a warrant, and his next court date is scheduled for July 12.

Detectives are continuing their investigation to see whether any moe individuals may have had inappropriate contact with Fleming.
