President Biden: We’re not going anywhere. I would not be running if I did not absolutely believe that I am the best candidate to beat Donald Trump. I will be reasserting that and demonstrating that this week and from here on out
On Monday, US President Joe Biden appeared on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” and declared unequivocally that he would continue to run for president in 2024.
“The bottom line here is that we’re not going anywhere. I am not going anywhere,” Biden assured anchors Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough, both staunch White House supporters.
“I wouldn’t be running if I didn’t absolutely believe that I am the best candidate to beat Donald Trump in 2024. We had a democratic nominating process where the voters spoke clearly. I won 14 million of those votes.”

Biden stated over the phone from the White House that he has been traveling for the past 10 days to ensure that his “instinct” regarding the Democratic Party’s continued interest in him as the nominee is correct.
Following his halting debate and behind-the-scenes reports of mental and cognitive decline, he has been urged to resign down by media supporters and members of his own party.
He also stated that he has been traveling around the country to dispel the myth that former President Trump has made significant gains with voters since the June 27 debate.
Despite concerns about his ability to win reelection, Biden stated that he defeated Trump in 2020 and will do so again.
The reaction from the debate has prompted various notable industry leaders, politicians, media outlets, journalists, and columnists to call on Biden to hand over the baton and let a new Democratic nominee to emerge.
The large list of people who have turned against Biden did not appear to influence the president’s decision to run again.
Brzezinski cited elite media such as the New York Times, as well as major Democratic Party individuals such as former Obama adviser David Axelrod, who stated it was time for him to step aside.
“I don’t care what those big names said. They were mistaken in 2020. They were mistaken in 2022 about the red wave. They’re wrong in 2024; come out with me and observe how people react. You pass judgment.”

Biden predicted that the average American will not turn away from him in the forthcoming election and dismissed accusations that he is losing popularity among African American voters.
“I’m getting frustrated by the elites — not you guys — the elites in the party, oh, they know so much more. Any of these guys that don’t think I should run, run against me. Announce for president, challenge me at the convention.”
