On Monday, a judge sentenced a North Las Vegas pastor to 1 year probation as part of a plea deal for sex crimes.
Bobby Cornealius Smith will be required to register as a sex offender and is not permitted to be alone with minors other than his biological children while on probation.
Smith will continue to serve as a pastor, according to defense attorney Robert Draskovich.
Smith is the pastor at New Beginnings Ministries, according to the church’s website.
When Clark County District Court Judge Joe Hardy, Jr. sentenced Smith, he alluded to the plea agreement made between Smith and the Clark County District Attorney’s office.
A grand jury had previously indicted Smith on 11 felony charges, including 9 counts of sexual assault, 1 act of attempted sexual assault, and 1 crime of child abuse, neglect, or endangerment.
3 women, 1 family member, and 2 ladies he referred to as “God daughters,” claimed being sexually assaulted.
According to court records, Smith spent 27 days in jail after his arrest, while his wife spent 11 days in jail.
