US Vice President Kamala Harris accepted the Democrats’ ceremonial presidential nomination on Tuesday, from a watch party roughly 100 miles away from the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
Harris, 59, spoke to fans at Milwaukee’s Fiserv Forum just after Democratic delegates had finished the symbolic roll-call vote.
“We are so honored to be your nominees,” the vice president said, standing behind her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
“This is a people-powered campaign and together we will chart a new way forward.”

The opening few minutes of the Democratic nominee’s comments were livestreamed from the United Center in Chicago, where the DNC is taking place.
The Democratic gathering’s prime-time addresses will be livestreamed from the Milwaukee venue.
