CHRISTIAN BREAKING NEWS: Christian Sanitation Worker Assaulted and Chained in Blazing Heat for Hours by Unhappy Muslims in Lahore, Pakistan

On Saturday (May 25), Muslims unhappy with a Christian sanitation worker in Lahore, Pakistan, assaulted him and left him chained in blazing heat for hours, according to sources.

Hussain Masih, Yasir Masih’s father-in-law, said he found the 35-year-old sanitation worker chained to a chair on the street in Lahore’s Gujjarpura neighborhood.

“[Yasir] Masih’s entire body was badly bruised, and he was chained to a chair. When he regained some strength, he told us that Malik Khadim Hussain, a resident of Gujjarpura, his son and three others had held him hostage and tortured him for not immediately obeying their order to collect the garbage and sweep the doorstep of their house.”

Yasir Masih’s primary responsibility was to clean the streets, but he had previously granted the Muslim family’s request to clean their area, according to the Christian’s father-in-law.

Hussain Masih stated that his son-in-law departed for work about 5 AM PST, but a few hours later his supervisor appeared at their home, claiming that he had not arrived at his allocated work place in the Gujjarpura neighborhood of Lahore.

Yasir Masih’s family and friends later staged a protest in front of the Lahore Press Club, demanding the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) and the arrest of the accused.

Senior police officers assured them that action would be taken, and Malik Hussain and 2 others were later arrested, but his sons remained at large.

Christians in Pakistan are frequently referred to as Chuhra (low caste), a derogatory name intended for sanitation workers based on their background as members of the subcontinent’s Hindu Chuhra caste, which was historically connected with sweepers.

Despite the fact that many of them have converted to Islam and Christianity, they continue to face discrimination and are assigned to tasks that are deemed degrading and defiling.

Road sweepers in Pakistan are primarily Christians, and they are also subjected to various abusive slurs in local languages.
