Fathers are the “Unsung heroes” in the world today. How I thank God for faithful men who stand by their wives and children and most importantly, godly men who raise their sons and daughters in the way of the Lord. To all of you Dads out there, a very Happy Father’s Day weekend!

Father’s Day is a holiday that celebrates one’s father, as well as fatherhood, paternal connections, and dads’ influence in society.

The holiday complements other family-oriented celebrations such as Mother’s Day and, in some countries, Siblings Day and Grandparents’ Day.

The day is celebrated on various dates around the world, and different countries have their unique traditions for honoring fatherhood.

For centuries, the Eastern Orthodox Church designated the second Sunday before Nativity as the Sunday of the Forefathers to commemorate the ancestors of Christ according to the flesh, beginning with Adam and stressing the patriarch Abraham, to whom God stated,

Genesis 12:3
I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

Genesis 22:18
In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.”
