More than 300 people gathered at McCalla’s Oasis of Praise Church on Friday night to pray for Lead Pastors Allan and Gay Kendrick and their family after their grandson allegedly killed his wife and 4 children.
After an hour of singing praise songs and praying, Associate Pastor Patrick Cooper spoke briefly.
“That’s not our position. That’s not our place. We’re in the role of the church. We’re here to love him and sister Gay and the family. Pray for everybody, not want to know everything that’s going on. We don’t have to.”

Brandon Allan Kendrick II, 32, is being imprisoned in the Bibb County Jail on 5 counts of capital murder.
On Thursday, deputies got a 911 call reporting a child shot on Greentree Drive.
According to the charging documents, Kendrick shot his 24-year-old wife, Kelse Kendrick, in the head with a handgun.
4 children, ages 2, 6, and 9, were also killed in the shooting.
2 of the children were six years old.
Their names have not been disclosed.
2 were the suspect’s children, while 2 were his a nephew and a niece.
Cooper believes the pastor will rely on his faith for strength in the aftermath of the tragedy.
”Your pastor’s the strongest person I’ve ever met in my life.”
“He showed it to me this morning less than an hour after the police left. He was already, ‘God’s got this. God’s got it taken care of.’”
”This is a practical lesson in how to deal with grief and how to deal with trouble. This is a pastor’s living example right now.”
– Associate Pastor Patrick Cooper
