CHRISTIAN BREAKING NEWS: 🚨 Parents Sentenced After Choosing Prayer Over Medicine | Tragic Baby Death

An Oregon couple who relied solely on prayer instead of medical care for their newborn have been sentenced after the baby’s death. This tragic case sparks nationwide debate over religious freedom v. child protection.

Hi everyone,

In September 2025, Blair and Taylor Edwards, members of the Followers of Christ Church in Oregon City, were sentenced after their newborn son, Hayden, tragically died in June 2023. The couple chose faith healing over medical treatment when Hayden showed signs of severe illness, including refusing to eat and turning pale blue. They relied on prayer and olive oil anointment instead of seeking medical care. The child died from acute bilirubin encephalopathy, a condition caused by untreated jaundice.

On September 8, 2025, the Edwards pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal mistreatment. They were sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years of supervised probation. As part of their probation, they must ensure their four surviving children receive regular medical care, maintain health insurance, and report any illnesses to their probation officer.
