A former Anchorage pastor is facing a federal assault charge after allegedly hitting his wife in the head on a flight.

According to a criminal complaint, Roger Allan Holmberg Sr. was disruptive when he assaulted his wife on a flight from Seattle to Anchorage on July 2.

Authorities stated Holmberg was furious that his wife was moved to first class due to her better mileage status while he was not.

According to Patti Holmberg, the pastor and his wife were traveling to Anchorage to explore business and potential housing prospects for religious missions.

She claims her husband appeared to be unhappy from the start of the day, apparently venting his anger on wheelchair attendants at the airports where they went.

Patti Holmberg believes her spouse has a history of abuse, which has caused her recent injuries.

Roger Allan Holmberg Sr. has been banned from all Alaska Airlines flights, the carrier confirmed on Wednesday.

The public defender’s office said Wednesday that Holmberg Sr. has decided to retain private counsel.

However, no attorney is currently named in the case’s online court record.

Roger Holmberg Sr. previously worked as a pastor at Grace Baptist Temple in Anchorage, AK according to his wife.

Patti Holmberg wants to urge other women who may be experiencing domestic abuse to speak up and seek help.
