Alexis Nungaray, the mother of a 12-year-old Houston girl who was murdered in June, spoke with former President Donald Trump at a border event in Arizona on Thursday afternoon.

The men accused of killing Jocelyn Nungaray, 22-year-old Johan Jose Martinez-Rangel and 26-year-old Franklin Jose Peña Ramos, are undocumented Venezuelan immigrants who entered the country illegally and were detained by Border Patrol officials near El Paso earlier this year.

Trump was first linked to the matter after claiming to have spoken with Alexis Nungaray during the first presidential debate against then-Democratic nominee and current US President Joe Biden.

The debate took place 10 days after Jocelyn was murdered.

Before Alexis spoke, the former president acknowledged the anguish Alexis has experienced over the last 2 months.

Alexis thanked Trump and his staff for letting her speak.

She then briefly outlined the crimes, stating that a DNA kit led investigators to assume her daughter had been assaulted.

Regarding the immigrant status of Jocelyn’s accused killers, Alexis stated that the crime should never have occurred.

During the address, Alexis praised Trump, stating that he is needed to secure the US border.

“We’re losing very innocent people to heinous crimes that shouldn’t be happening in the first place. So please, please, I really hope everybody can hear my pain.”
