CHRISTIAN BREAKING NEWS: [UPDATE] Apollo Quiboloy, Pastor and Church Leader of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC), Philippines On the Run from Sexual Abuse Charges Arrested [#ApolloQuiboloy]

A Filipino preacher accused of sexual abuse and human trafficking in the Philippines, as well as similar allegations in the United States, has been captured, officials announced Sunday.

Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos issued a brief statement on Facebook announcing Apollo Quiboloy’s arrest but did not disclose any other information.

Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil, the Philippine police head, acknowledged Quiboloy’s arrest but did not elaborate.

Quiboloy went into hiding after a Philippine court ordered his arrest, along with several others, on suspicion of child and sexual abuse.

The Philippine Senate has ordered Quiboloy’s arrest for refusing to attend in committee hearings investigating criminal allegations against him.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had asked Quiboloy to surrender and promised him fair treatment from authorities.

The preacher and his lawyer have refuted the claims against him, claiming they were made up by opponents and ex-members of the religious group.

In 2021, US federal prosecutors revealed Quiboloy’s indictment for allegedly having sex with women and underage girls who were threatened with violence and “eternal damnation” if they did not cater to the self-proclaimed “son of God.”

Quiboloy and 2 of his senior administrators were among 9 people charged in a superseding indictment returned by a federal grand jury in November 2021.

It included numerous counts such as conspiracy, child sex trafficking, forced sex trafficking, fraud and coercion, marriage fraud, money laundering, cash smuggling, and visa fraud.

Requests for comment were addressed to Philippine authorities by the United States Embassy in Manila.

In August, around 2,000 police officers accompanied by riot squads raided a massive religious compound of Quiboloy’s sect, known as the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, in southern Davao City.

The police brought technology capable of detecting persons hiding in underground tunnels but were unable to locate him in the 30-hectare (75-acre) compound, which includes a cathedral, a stadium, a school, a residential area, a hangar, and a taxiway leading to Davao International Airport.

In 2019, Quiboloy claimed he prevented a huge earthquake from striking the southern Philippines.

He was also a strong follower and spiritual adviser to former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is under investigation by the International Criminal Court for the extrajudicial killings of thousands of drug suspects.
