Der Post des Auswärtigen Amtes zu dem Raketentreffer in einer Schule in Gaza irritiert und lässt jegliche Räson vermissen. Was wir darüber wissen, wissen wir von der Hamas. Wir wissen außerdem auch, dass es die Terrororganisation Hamas ist, die diesen Krieg, der so viel Leid verursacht, in Einrichtungen wie Schulen und Krankenhäuser trägt. Das heißt nicht, dass die israelische Armee zivile Opfer einfach hinnehmen kann, sondern alles dafür tun muss, um weiteres Leid zu verhindern, selbst wenn sie es mit einem Gegner zu tun hat, der diese Opfer bewusst provoziert. Bevor es das Auswärtige Amt der Bundesrepublik Deutschland über Social Media forderte, wurde von der israelischen Armee selbstverständlich eine Untersuchung des Vorfalls eingeleitet. Den Aufruf deutscher Diplomaten an die einzige Demokratie im Nahen Osten hat es nicht bedurft. Wo bleibt an einem Tag wie diesem der klare Aufruf an die Hamas, keine unschuldigen Menschen als Schutzschilde zu missbrauchen?

The Foreign Office’s post about the rocket hit in a school in Gaza is confusing and lacks any sense of reason. What we know about it, we know from Hamas. We also know that it is the terrorist organization Hamas that is bringing this war, which is causing so much suffering, into institutions such as schools and hospitals. This does not mean that the Israeli army can simply accept civilian casualties; it must do everything it can to prevent further suffering, even if it is dealing with an enemy that is deliberately provoking these victims. Before the German Foreign Office demanded this via social media, the Israeli army had of course launched an investigation into the incident. There was no need for German diplomats to appeal to the only democracy in the Middle East. On a day like this, where is the clear appeal to Hamas not to use innocent people as human shields?

#Gaza: People seeking shelter in #schools getting killed is unacceptable. Civilians, especially children, must not get caught in the crossfire. The repeated attacks on schools by the Israeli army must stop and an investigation must come quickly.

The Central Council of Jews of Germany issued a rare criticism of its foreign ministry for blaming Israel for allegedly attacking a school in Gaza without a valid military justification.
